courtney + daniel

Engagement  |  Rachel  |

Meet Courtney and Daniel, a young and vibrant couple who live here in Charlotte, North Carolina.  When I asked what they would like to do for their engagement session, Courtney said “we just hope you can capture how in love we are in the photos”. Done!  That response is one of the many reasons I am thankful for my job and for amazing clients like Courtney and Daniel.

We incorporated a few things in their engagement session that make them unique as a couple.  Their first date was at a bowling alley in the area, so we thought we’d start there for a few photos.  And the comic book idea came from Daniel’s love of superheroes and spending countless hours at the comic book store.  Enjoy!

Three ways this sweet couple made my day sunnier:
1.  Daniel looks at Courtney like she’s the only person in the room, even in a crowded place.  Ahhh, love.
2.  I learned about your vampire books obsession and knew we would get along. :)
3.  Courtney walked through that beautiful field in high heels.  Go girl!

sisters’ getaway

Portraits  |  Rachel  |

Every year, these 6 sisters get together to celebrate their birthdays with a getaway of sorts.  This year, they decided Bald Head Island was the perfect spot.  I was honored when they asked me to photograph a portion of their evening together.  They shared champagne and fine cheeses, exchanged gifts from faraway lands, and laughed.  Boy oh boy, did this group of amazing women know how to laugh!

It was inspiring to spend time with people who have their priorities in line.  Time with family is so important and I think we would all be a little happier if we took the time for each other that these sisters do.

beck family

Portraits  |  Rachel  |

When Courtney started working for Millie Holloman Photography as a second shooter, she was only a few months pregnant.  Fast forward a year, dozens of weddings, a delivery, and a wonderful holiday season and I finally got to meet her beautiful daughter, Juliet, for their family photo session.  I pass this beautiful location every day and have been wanting to do a session here for about as long as Courtney has been assisting me.  This gorgeous spot did not disappoint, and neither did the light that day!  Enjoy.

Courtney, you made this session so special by bringing your playful dog (Rucca), the stuffed bunny your mom made, and the beautiful quilt you made while Juliet was still in your belly.  I remember you working on that quilt many times while we were staying overnight on location; I know Juliet will cherish this quilt with as much love as you put into it.

sigrid + bart

Rachel  |  Weddings  |

It was a gorgeous day in Coral Spring, Florida.  Sigrid and Bart tied the knot in their Aunt’s back yard surrounded by their friends and family.  Details like antique china, vintage furniture strewn about the lawn, a chandelier hung from a tree, and a dance floor with Italian string lights above made this one of a kind event even more memorable.  It was my pleasure to photograph every moment!

A few things I will never forget about Sigrid and Bart’s beautiful back yard wedding:

1.  The happy couple leading their guests into the reception area with balloons and “Love Train” playing in the background.

2.  Sigrid’s father coming to the altar to sneak one more kiss on the cheek to his daughter during the ceremony.  Sweet moment!

3.  The night sky, filled with stars and romance.

constance + kyle

Engagement  |  Rachel  |

Constance and Kyle met me for their engagement shoot on a crisp morning here in the Queen City.  Seeing Constance’s bright yellow shirt let me know right away that we were going to get along famously as yellow is my favorite of all colors!  Getting to know clients like this sweet couple is the number one reason I love my job.

Three ways you made my day sunnier:
1. Constance’s amazing yellow shirt.
2. Kyle’s smile when he looks at his bride to be.
3. Jumping on a bridge for a fun photo.
