Katie and John’s wedding was classic Southern gentility. We even had a surprise visit from a Civil War reenactor! Their wedding was on a beautiful spring day in the historic downtown of New Bern, North Carolina, and their ceremony was in one of THE most perfect antebellum chapels I have seen in a long time. The details from Katie’s mother’s veil to her father’s getaway convertible added personal touches to a really fun day. ”Heavenly Day” by Patti Griffin was a perfect song for their first dance. It truely was a heavenly day.

Katie and John, Lindsey and I had such a great time with you guys and cannot wait to shoot your additional wedding festivities in July!

Brent and I kicked off this year’s wedding season with this lovely duo, Sarah and Ryan. We started at Kenan Chapel where they were excitedly waiting to say their “I do’s.” Despite the chill in the air, everyone had a smile on their face and love in their hearts for Sarah and Ryan.

The reception was a quite the party as The Jangling Rhineharts played their favorite tunes. One of the best parts about this wedding was the family-like atmosphere. It honestly felt like one big family party filled with laughs, hugs and lots of love. Cheers to Sarah and Ryan and their special day!

The moment cute-as-can-be Chelsea walked in to my favorite coffee shop, Port City Java, to meet me before her photo session I knew it was going to be a perfect day!

We shot her senior portraits on Front Street, right in the midst of the hype of St. Patrick’s Day weekend and festivities! Front Street is so full of life during holiday weekends, so we escaped to this peaceful side street to get started. Lucky us, we found some amazing corners and beautiful blooms hiding there for us to get lost in…

cameron + dave

Brent and I recently met up with Cameron and Dave, a couple from the Raleigh area. They are getting married this summer. This duo met through a blind date, or at least that is what Cameron assumed. Shortly before Dave was scheduled to pick Cameron up for their evening out, there was a flower delivery for Cameron. The funny thing was, the flower delivery man was actually Dave in disguise (fake tattoos and all)! It wasn’t until he mentioned it at dinner later that evening that she realized what he had orchestrated. It was sneaky and sweet and the two had an amazing night of dinner, dancing and great conversation.

Brent and I had a great time with Cameron and Dave and despite the winds and very cold chill, all of us enjoyed laughs and getting to know one another. We can’t wait until their wedding!

Cameron and Dave, thanks for a wonderful afternoon! Watching you two reminded us that it’s important to be silly and have fun in everything you do. Thanks for the smiles and laughs throughout the session!

sally + jordan

One of our favorite things we learned about Sally & Jordan during their engagement session was the story of how they got engaged. Jordan works for the Wrightsville Beach Police Department and on the night he proposed, he had a little help from one of his co-workers who stopped Sally because of a “missing” license plate. Panicked, Sally called Jordan to come to her rescue which he did, with a beautiful ring in hand. Of course, the entire event was planned by Jordan but he knew he wanted to catch Sally off guard-and he did! We are looking forward to Sally and Jordan’s big day!

Thanks to Sally and Jordan for a great afternoon! You were both troopers to brave the chilly winds and your engagement story is so fun and unique. Brent and I are glad that we will be a part of your wedding!

From the first time I chatted with Jayme & Andy over the phone about their wedding day I knew they were going to be a fun couple to photograph. They are full of energy and I could hear them smiling when we would talk. I was right! We spent an hour walking around downtown Wilmington and getting to know one another a little better. I learned a lot of fun facts about their love story and the two of them. They met through close friends with a quick hello then one year later they had their first date. They even attended the same high school but didn’t meet until 7 years after graduation, crazy! These two live near Chicago, but for their wedding in May I get to travel to the Outer Banks and I can’t wait!

Jayme & Andy, My favorite thing about you two is the joy you bring. I can’t help but smile when I’m around you both! See you in May!

crystal + arnold

Crystal and Arnold met me at Wrightsville Beach recently for a maternity session. They are so excited to be expecting their first child together in just a few weeks! Newly relocated to the area and long time surfers, Crystal and Arnold will have even more fun on the beach this summer with their new little one!

What I remember most about this session is Crystal tearing up after seeing a sneak-peak from the back of my camera of Arnold’s embrace. You two are the sweetest! Congratulations on little your “Baby Turtle!” I hope to get to meet her soon and see the two of you again. Best wishes for a smooth delivery!

Margaret and Cameron were married at her family’s mill just outside of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. I could go on for pages about how beautiful it was, how incredible the details were, and how sweet and welcoming they and their families are, but I know I can’t do it justice. And I know without a doubt you’ll be able to tell just how in love these two are. It was an amazing day, and one of my favorite weddings of this past year!

Congratulations Margaret and Cameron! The three things I’ll always remember about your big day: how you made me feel like a member of your family from the very start, the way you two get down on the dance floor, and the way your love for each other was so tangible through every little detail of your day. I am so honored that I got to be a part of it!

Sarah and Dana’s were married this past October on an amazing Saturday afternoon. Brent and I were looking forward to this wedding because we’ve known Sarah for several years. She actually works for an event design company in town, Stellar Events, who we have worked with on numerous weddings. It was exciting to see Sarah in the spotlight as the bride and she could not have looked any more beautiful! The entire day was filled with endearing words, sweet moments and fun surprises. It was truly a perfect day and I am sure it was everything Sarah and Dana wanted for their wedding.

Sarah and Dana, Brent and I cannot thank you enough for allowing us to share in your day! Your love for one another is transparent by the way you are with one another. We saw the excitement in both your eyes during your first sight, we saw the happy tears that were shed during your vows and we saw your love expressed through smiles and laughter. Thanks for letting us capture your love!

Since they feel at home on the surf and sand, we felt the beach was the best place for us to meet up for their engagement session.
