It was a picture perfect day in Charlotte, North Carolina. Outside, the sun was shining, there were blue skies above, and a light breeze to hold off the southern heat. Inside, the Ballantyne Hotel was buzzing with excitement as Shanna and Anwar’s wedding party rushed through the halls to prepare for the big event. Shanna asked how Anwar was and Anwar asked how Shanna looked when I visited them in their respective dressing rooms. Have you ever been involved in a day like this? Felt the excitement in the air? Been witness to the behind the scenes of a dream wedding?
Shanna and Anwar’s day was truly special. Their first sight followed by a prayer over the marriage led by Anwar brought tears to my eyes. The moment during the ceremony when the ring bearer decided it would be a perfect time to run down the golf course was hysterical. The toasts from the wedding party were heartfelt and personal. And Anwar couldn’t keep his eyes off his bride.
On this day, what I remember most is Anwar’s victory dance. Hands raised, proud of his first dance moment with Shanna.
Everyone here at Millie Holloman Photography has been so excited to release this wedding to the blog. We have a special connection to the bride, Renee. She interned and was an awesome second shooter for the company while she was in college. I think the only person more excited than us to see the photos is Renee herself. She put her heart and soul into so many DIY projects for this wedding and it definitely paid off in a sweet and southern way! Some of my favorites were the pinwheel fans for the guests during the ceremony, the luggage seated in the back of the vintage truck just for cards, and the streamers that made your grand exit amazing. What a phenomenal and beautiful day!
Renee and Justin, I cannot tell you how happy I am that you chose me to photograph your wedding. I loved being there with you on your amazing day! Three things I will always remember:
1. Kimrey throwing that confetti like it was the most important job on the planet. Best flower girl ever!
2. The awesomely funny music selection your bridesmaids played for you, Renee, while you were getting ready.
3. Seeing you, Renee, in your dress all dolled up and looking gorgeous. You were a stunning bride!
Much love to you, Justin and your families!

I met the beautiful Ward family on the coast of North Carolina. Kate, the mom, is a portrait photographer in the Dallas area and wanted photos of her family while vacationing and visiting relatives. It was a beautiful, sunny day and the kids were ready to have some fun!
I always enjoy working with other photographers. First of all, it’s an honor to be chosen to do so! Kate trusted me completely as well, which makes shooting for another photographer loads of fun. Thank you for that, Kate!
Thank you for an awesome time Ward family! On this day, you taught me to jump higher, hug tighter, and to not forget the little moments.
I pulled into the Brays Island Plantation in Sheldon, South Carolina, and my heart stopped. It’s one of those magical places you see in movies with spanish moss growing on the trees, birds flying over the marsh, and a sweet little stable with perfectly groomed horses. After regaining composure, I started getting really excited for Haley’s bridal session. Their wedding was held on the grounds this past weekend as well! I can’t wait to show you those images.
Haley is a sweet, southern belle with a smile that can light up a room. It was a pleasure meeting her mother, Cindy, as well as her horse, Pippin, during our time together!
Haley, you are sweet as apple pie and I am so thankful you have chosen me as your photographer.
On this day, what I remember most was at the end of the session, Pippin got a little adventurous and took off. Haley didn’t miss a beat. She hiked up her wedding dress and ran after her horse, yelling “Pip!”. He didn’t go far (whew!) and we all laughed about it in the end.
