Jenna and Steven’s wedding was full of moments I still run through my mind. From the beginning I could feel the closeness this family had with one another. All of them had endured moments of joy, moments of grief and loss and joy and peace again. You see, Jenna’s mother passed away before she could see this dream become a happy reality. Knowing the connection I have with my own mother, I can’t imagine the hurt for everyone involved.
Of course, Jenna’s smile reflects the strength she has and the way she looks at Steven, it is obvious that his whole heart belongs to her. The wedding was a dream come to life and one that Jenna’s mother would have imagined for her sweet daughter. From a horn section playing at the ceremony, to blueberry juice straight from the family farm (which was amazing) to the little dapper ring bearer who did an exceptional job of being adorable. Jenna and Steven, your day was beautiful and very heartfelt. I am so honored to have captured these moments for you. And a special thanks to my lovely photographer friend, Davina for being with me on this day!
Thank you to all of the wedding professionals who made Jenna and Steven’s wedding a dream!

I’ve photographed this sweet family for several years now during so many of their big life events from weddings to births and everything in between, even portraits and anniversary celebrations. Around MHP we love this now family of 5 and their extended family as well, so it was a pleasure to join them in celebrating little Hattie during her first portrait session!
As a photographer, there are some families you fall in love with instantly. For us at MHP, one of those families is the Highsmith’s. I have photographed 60th anniversary parties, a wedding, newborn photos, and birthdays, marking some pretty amazing milestones in their lives. These people are full of warmth, love and community just like these images depict.
I joined them the day after Thanksgiving as they all gathered at the family cabin to enjoy a BBQ pig on the grill. A few of the things I remember most are golf cart rides through the woods with giggly kids, snuggling babies by the fire, clay pigeons flying through the air and gunshots ringing in my ears. But it took one another’s company to remind them of all the things they are truly grateful for… family, faith, health and their many blessings were all some of the words chosen by them and permanently penned to napkins. Perhaps one of my favorite moments was photographing Mr. Highsmith while he penned his blessings, faith and family being firsts. These napkins will no doubt be used for many years to come as a visual to the strong foundation of their family. It was the perfect afternoon, I already want to go back. It’s not very many sessions that I get to shoot and be surrounded by such warm and inviting people paired with the perfect location and a delicious thanksgiving spread with key lime pie to wrap it up, yum all around!
