Wilmington is a gorgeous port city and the 8th most populated state in North Carolina. Settled by European Americans long ago, it is now recognized as being a distinctive destination. With three beach communities (Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach) nearby, it is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Wilmington boasts one of the largest historic districts, encompassing nearly 300 blocks. Downtown/Old Wilmington is home to Historic Neighborhoods and buildings such as the restored City Market. So many areas of Downtown Wilmington are perfect for engagement and family photo sessions!

Economy-wise, Wilmington’s bustling industrial base is boosted by tourism, due to the proximity to the ocean and vibrant nightlife It’s one of the best places for business and careers, according to Forbes, including start-ups. Well-known higher educational institutions are also a draw for residents and transplants with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Cape Fear Community College.

Stunning Performing Arts | Wilmington, North Carolina

The Performing Arts scene is prolific, with Thalian Hall leading the way since 1858. Thalian Hall hosts approximately 250 events each year, and has been in continuous operation since it opened its doors over 150 years ago! The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts center, owned by the City of Wilmington and managed by the Thalian Association is a multiuse facility that is well-known for its Children’s Theater. The University of North Carolina at Wilmington College adds to the splendor with a state-of-the-art Cultural Arts Building that the Departments of Theater, Music, and Art share. With room for a music recital hall, art gallery, and two theaters, there is no end of art and entertainment.

There is a multitude of museums and historic sites for locals and tourists to visit, such as the Cameron Art Museum, Bellamy Mansion, Children’s Museum of History and Science, First Baptist Church, Fort Fisher Historic Center, Latimer House Museum, and the USS North Carolina Memorial. Wilmington is truly a great place to live, full of charm and history, and so much to do close by. With so much natural beauty so close to major cities, it is a wonderful place to live and have a great career. It’s a great place to raise a family. There is truly something for everyone in this city.
